We enjoyed an authentic Kentucky experience yesterday. We visited the Keeneland Race Course in Lexington. It is their fall meet. Keeneland has been described as “horse racing as it’s intended to be”. It certainly was enjoyable. The race course and grounds are very beautiful. The atmosphere is warm and reeks with tradition. It is family friendly. The parking areas were filled with “tailgaters”. Grandstand seating is benches or chairs that patrons bring in. The kids were able to stand on the rail next to the finish line. Many club house patrons leave their lofty perches to come down and watch the race from the grandstand seating area. We arranged a “play pen” for our group of 9 kids and 6 adults. In addition to grandson Ryan, Ann and I, their was the Crocketts and their friends from Indianapolis. Unfortunately, the day’s winnings did not match the beauty of the setting or the day, but everyone had a great time.
We have had a good but busy week. I feel that our house is really getting close to where we would like it to be. Ann and I traveled to Louisville Tuesday. We had coffee with Adam and then I went to the Crossroads Missions office for the day. Ann ran some errands and visited some friends. I have been able to return to a fairly regular exercise routine. Running in Wilmore is nice. My office is mostly complete and Meredith’s wall mural looks very nice. I’ll probably hang a few pictures this next week.
Scott’s 41st birthday was Wednesday. Happy birthday son!
