A Good Day Fishing

Yesterday was the last opportunity to fish before we return to Kentcuky. My friend Ron in Venice invited us to come over. He and I were going to fish on the jetty while Ann and Jean enjoyed the pool/beach with dinner to follow. Unfortunately, a cold front came through and the temps dropped and the winds were howling at 25+ mph. We bravely went out fishing while Ann and Jean stayed in the warm condo. There was virtually no one fishing. Despite the negatives, the fish were biting and we had a great time. I was able to catch 5-6 nice sheepshead as well as an assortment of other smaller fish. Ron caught a nice pompano.

We had an early dinner and visited over coffee and key lime pie. It was a good day.

An Exciting Day

Yesterday was a special day and exciting day. I enjoyed a couple of unique experiences. During my bike ride I was attempting to set my iPod. I thought that I could do it while continuing to ride which is not unusual. Only this time I needed both hands. It seem perfectly reasonable to ride briefly with no hands. Wrong! In a split second it was apparent to me that I was going to die. Fortunately, I was wrong. I only took a spill on to the side of the paved trail. I managed to come out with only cuts, bruises and scratches on my left arm and leg and ego. It looks pretty gross (no pictures) but nothing serious. I only wish someone had videoed it so I could submit it as a stupid human trick.

The other experience was our dinner with Rod and Brenda from the Central Church in Sarasota where we attend while here. Knowing that he enjoyed playing, I asked Rod to bring his guitar and play for us. Ann fixed a great dinner and afterwards we had a great visit and Rod and Brenda both played guitars and sang for us. They are very good and it was a most pleasant experience.

Today we went to Sarasota for our last Sunday there this year. I taught my final class. We had lunch at our special Chinese buffet and returned home. We will be going back to Sarasota to have dinner this evening with Jerry Page and his brother and sister-in-law, David and Sophia. Jerry is in town for a men’s spiritual encounter. They are all special to us and I’m looking forward to the evening.
