Old Fashion Christmas

Today is the Wilmore Old Fashion Musical Christmas. Melissa, Ryan, Kyle, Tyler and Madison came last night and we plan to enjoy the festivities. We will also find time for the chess tournament that Jerod has today. Meredith has a dress rehersal for her Christmas play. She is playing a sheep and has a speaking role. We will start with a pancake breakfast. I am looking forward to the day.

Ann has put out some decorations. I’m singing “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”. We will celebrate the beginning of Advent with the seminary students Sunday afternoon. I am thankful for the opportunities to be reminded that God has come to earth and redeemed his people.

Early

It is 3:30am and we are preparing to depart for Louisville. It has been an interesting and profitable week for me as relates to CM and the work here. I am anxious to see what God has planned for this work. At this time it looks as if we may be relocating the NO mission to the Milne Boys Home property in Gentilly.

New Orleans

We made it to NO last evening. It rained all evening and most of the night. It is cloudy and cool this morning. We will be returning on Thursday. Most of our time will be spent looking at what needs to be done to get the operation moved. We are losing the current facility and they are looking for permanent quarters as well as temporary housing.

I continue to be impressed with the people that work in the mission. Their dedication is amazing. Long hours, less or little pay and they seem to be energized by the experience. There are families as well as singles. I am thankful for the opportunity to get to know and understand them.

Thankful

We had a wonderful belated Thanskgiving yesterday. Everyone who planned to come arrived safely. We had a great meal and good visiting. (Close quarters made it easier.) The evening was capped off with a great football game (Arkansas/LSU). The younger kids were really good and seemed to enjoy each other company. This morning, Ann and I and Scott and Allison joined the Crocketts and the Gabeharts for breakfast. Scott and Allison are headed back to Memphis. We are getting ready to leave tomorrow morning for New Orleans. Ann is still not feeling up to par and she may not go. We’ll see how she feels later. I’m looking forward to spending some time with the Crossroads Missions New Orleans staff.

November Update

The end of 2007 is coming quickly. It is hard to realize that we are relocated and in a new home. There is a lot of activity between now and our departure for Florida. Ann and I are going to attend the National Missionary Convention in Cincinnati this weekend. We are working with Crossroads Missions as exhibitors. We will take time out to go to Louisville Saturday afternoon to attend a reception in honor of Gilbert and Exie Dadisman’s 75th wedding anniversary.

Next week Scott and Allison will arrive on Wednesday and the others will be here on Friday to celebrate Thanksgiving. We will be leaving early Sunday morning to travel to New Orleans with others from Crossroads Missions. Our plan is to return on Nov 29, just in time for the Wilmore Old Fashion Musical Christmas celebration on Dec 1.

I have slowed down some on work around the house. There are a number of things that remain to be done but they are such that they can be done later. The garage is pretty much done except for painting which will require some warmer weather.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving
