Friday Evening

Another busy day. Worked in the back yard clearing out vines and undergrowth.  I had some good help from Ryan and Kyle and Tyler. We made some good progress but I have a way to go. Ann and Melissa and Tanya did a great job inside today. Melissa and Tanya have worked really hard to help us settle in. With the exception of a few small things and my office, the house is set up. It has been an exhausting week. We are taking the weekend off.

Making Some Progess

Ann continues to work hard on the house. She has made a lot of headway and we are feeling more at home. Our bedroom is finished as well as the living room. The guest bedroom is just about complete. Window treatments and pictures are yet to come.

I spent most of the day in the garage and the yard. Although it is late in the season, I sowed some grass seed. Hopefully the warm weather will help out.Melissa and her children are coming over tonight and I plan to get some clean up in the back yard done tomorrow. I’m going to put the kids to work. I was hoping that we woulod be pretty much together by the end of this week but it is looking doubtful.

This weekend is the Wilmore Arts and Crafts Fair so we won’t miss the St James Art Fair in Louisville. Melissa and kids just came in so I need to go.

Busy

I have been really busy. There is plenty to do and I’m enjoying getting it done. We have made a lot of progress. As you you can see, a major step made was getting our internet connection set up. So far the experience has been mentally a little like going to Florida for an extended stay. I am gradually coming to the realization that we are home.

I did get a webcam for Skype and I am set to go. Only problem is I don’t have anyone to talk with. It’s like being all dressed up for the big dance and no one shows up.

I hope to get to some sort of routine in the next week or so and start posting more regularly on this blog as well as the other. Melissa is coming over today with the rest of our stuff we couldn’t get in the moving van. This week end Wilmore is having an arts and craft fair. We will have to plan to make some time to visit.

I am sitting on our front porch. It is a beautiful cool morning. I have greeted several of our neighbors. There are quite  a few students that walk by on their way to class. Tanya just came up with Grayson. She is running and Grayson is riding his bike. It only took her 6 minutes from their house. Grayson will play here while Tanya gets in a run. I hope to start running again soon. Got to get work. More later.

St Louis

We left home Saturday and traveled to Memphis, TN to visit Scott and Allison. We had a short but very pleasant visit. Their home is lovely. After taking in the Heritage Festival at Covington TN we had dinner Saturday at a quaint restaurant called Braden Station. It was really down-home, fried catfish and all the fixings. Scott and Allison have three dogs. Earl, Randy and Jazz. Earl and Randy are just like their TV counterparts. Scott and I fished Sunday pm in the lake in their development. Didn’t catch much but it was a beautiful evening.

dsc08080.JPGEarly Monday morning we headed to St. Louis to meet Ron and Jean Like. We have been visiting and site seeing. I have not spent any time in St. Louis since we came with three of the kids 30+ years ago. I have enjoyed seeing the Gateway Arch and other sites. We had dinner at Mike Shannon’s Steak and Seafood last evening. Great steak and lots of memorabilia. We walked a lot today and I’m looking forward to visiting and playing cards this evening after dinner.

Work on our house in Wilmore is progressing. The driveway is being poured. The floors will be finished tomorrow or Thursday. My construction site supervisor (Tanya) is doing a good job overseeing. We should be home tomorrow afternoon.

Ebb and Flow

There is much to be thankful for. It is when the little things get to irritating me that I need to see the bigger picture. Our visit with Andrew Verble last evening helped me keep my perspective. I was reminded of the difficulties and challenges that he and his family face and how they continue to stand up under those pressures. My power steering problems with the van and the microwave going out and numerous other aggravations that come with moving, just aren’t very important.
