Change

Change is always painful but the upside is that it also brings adventure and opportunity. This week will be a significant in our journey. Our house is up for sale. I will begin working at U of L (assuming I get past the background check). The pain will come in the disruption of my comfortble routines. Reading, exercising, flexible schedules will all be affected. I think it will be good for me. Perhaps I will be reminded of how most people live.

Rain out?

A worship service in the park is planned for this morning. It appears we are at risk of cancelling because of rain. Apparently the prayers for ending the drought have trumped the prayers for good weather this morning.

Cloudy and Cool

It is funny how much my day is defined by the weather. Today is cloudy and cool. A welcome relief from the HHH (hazy, hot & humid). I was able to get in a good run this morning. I had to dodge the yard sale people (Glenmary is having our annual yard sale). Ann is working hard at getting the house presentable for showing. I think she is a little frustrated with my lack of enthusiasm for such but I’m sure I will get motivated.

Kyle’s baseball team lost in their tournament finale last evening. He was able to recover from his foot injury so he could play. He had a bunt hit and and did a good job running the bases and scored a run. I think he and everyone else is gald the season is over. Tyler has the last game for the season this morning. They are playing for their championship also. Have you you ever heard of so many champions?

The for sale signs are up. Melissa got an immediate call last night and left the ballgame to show the house. The people are very interested. We’ll see if anything works out. We have worship in the park tomorrow mornning and a free pass for Sunday evening. Maybe a long bike ride would be in order?

Smell the Rain

I’m siting on our screened porch and the rain is moving in. It makes for a very pleasant morning. It also heightens my reluctance to return to painting. I really appreciate my time in the mornings. I get my best reading done then. A good cup of coffee and the opportunity to reflect and be thankful. I am having a late coffee with Mike today. I will get the painting done. There will be some time needed to get the paper work done to list our house. Melissa is relentless. It definitely “Get ‘R Done”. Another ballgame this eveing. Tomorrow Adam has asked me to go with him to do some random interviews, asking people who they think Jesus is. That should be interesting. He is preparing for the men’s retreat this fall.

If things go as planned I will begin a temporary job at University of Louisville on Monday. I am looking forward to the experience but I have mixed feelings about giving up my routine.
