Trophy Time

Last evening we attend a recognition event for kids in the Southland Christian Church basketball program. There were hundreds of kids and families there. It was first class event. Everyone was proud of their trophy. In addition to the Crockett children, the Walt and Lamb children participated.

Today it is Spring Fling at Wilmore Elementary, baseball practice at Champions and Governor’s Cup Quick Recall Competition in Louisville tomorrow. We will be in Louisville until Monday evening. Go Grand-kids!!!!

It Must Be Spring

Warm sunshine … gentle breezes … BASEBALL!

It must be spring. Today was Jerod and Blake baseball team’s first practice. I have agreed to help out coaching. Daniel is also an assistant coach. The practice was good. The head coach is very good. He coached the team last year and they won their championship. His philosophy is that the most important thing is for the kids to learn how to play baseball and enjoy the experience. Winning is a bonus.

It’s Not Snowing in Florida

I was looking forward to getting a head start on some work around the house when we returned from Florida. My expectation was that winter would be past… NOT! The best thing to say about the 5″ of snow we have gotten is that it’s not 12″ like Louisville has. It is beautiful and we expect to get more this morning.

The Crockett kids are here. Their parents are in Lexington for a marriage conference. We have enjoyed them. Jerod beat me at chess last evening. Surely he is getting better and I’m not slipping.

It is a great day for chili, basketball (UL vs Georgetown), reading and naps. It is pretty cold so I’m not sure about sledding … maybe?

Visit to Louisville

We were anxious to see the Gabeharts, so we made a quick trip to Louisville yesterday afternoon. Melissa fixed a great meal, thanks, in part, to Byron’s grilling expertise. I played pool and visited with the grand-kids. They were glad to see us and we were glad to see them. They have grown noticeably since we last saw them. I think Kyle had gotten taller for sure. It was a really good evening.

Home from Florida

We arrived safely in Wilmore early yesterday afternoon. It is good to be here. There were a few things to get done and most of our unpacking is finished. We had dinner with the Crocketts and some of their friends. A great evening.

Seeing the Crockett kids was special. We were able to celebrate with them for two special events yesterday. Grayson, in the last basketball game of the season, scored his first goal. This was a big deal because he is the youngest player. Way to GO! Grayson.

Jerod was in an academic competition yesterday. He surprised us at dinner with his medal awarded for the District Grand Champion in Language Arts. He also competed on the quick recall team in which his team won first place. Great job Jerod.
