King’s Island

Ryan and Kyle are going with their church youth group to King’s Island today. Ryan’s pledge was that the first thing he is going to do is ride “Son of Beast”. Apparently this is a rite of passage and I expect when he returns if he has ridden the ride he will be a man or at least think he is a man. After looking at the pictures, mabe he will be a man.

Our caregroup is meeting tonight. Lots of good food and visiting. We have been meeting with this group for many years. I will miss their company when we move.

I can hear the thunder. I am on our screened porch and it seems like a good time to take a nap. The ceiling fan is lulling me to sleeeeeeeeeeeee…………………

Thursday 6/28

It is hard to believe that June is almost gone. We will be leaving for vacation this time next week. It will be strange to not be going to church camp but vacation trumped it this year. Mike and I are meeting this afternoon to discuss youth class for this Sunday. I really enjoy the opportunity to interact with the kids. We are working on understanding how to avoid worshipping “golden calfs”.

Good Morning

Yesterday didn’t quite go as I had hoped. Instead of being lulled to sleep by the rain, the rain woke me up. Fortunately, I was able to continue my nap despite the interruption.

Ann and I had a good meeting with Rob at Crossroads Missions and we have committed to work with them on an on-going basis. Our role and responsibilities are initially centered in organizing and planning. That will require our presence in New Orleans regularly. I am excited about the opportunities to be of some value to CM.

Hopefully, I will begin a temporary job with U of L in the next few days. Looks like my days will be getting busier.

Coffee

One of my favorite rituals is Tuesday morning coffee with Adam and Keith. Today was even better because I had an early morning bike ride to go with the coffee and conversation. It is a beautiful morning. Ann and I are going to meet with Crossroads Missions this morning. I have no idea what that experience will bring. I think that is what makes this time of my life so interesting, the surprises that seem to come every day. Gary Smith and I are having lunch. My calendar is pretty full. Maybe I’ll work in  a nap this afternoon. Hopefully we will have a thunder storm. Ther is nothing more relaxing than stretching out on our screened porch during a rain and taking a nap.

I am beginning to get mentally prepared for our trip to Florida. I’m also gathering up reading material. Hopefully I will get in some fishing with the grandkids.
