Un-beached

We are on the down hill side of our vacation. I am really enjoying the family and the activities. Yesterday was the first day we did not go to the beach. Everyone else needed some relief from the sun. Dan and his boys, Scott and I went fishing on the Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier. We had a good time and everyone but me caught fish. Dan was the champion. He capped his day off by catching a Remora shark. The funniest part was Grayson caught more fish on his “Star Wars” rod and reel than all of us with “real” fishing equipment. Melissa, Madison, Tanya, Meredith and Ann went on a Dolphin cruise and had a great time. Byron and his boys went to the “Track” amusement park and they rode gocarts and other rides.

We had a great meal last night. Shrimp and chicken shish kabobs off the grill. Played Imaginiff and then made a late night run to Krispy Kreme. It was a hoot. Today we will head back to beach, I suppose. Tomorrow morning is our re-scheduled fishing trip.

Good news, bad news

Received word on our van. It is a bad water pump. I describe it as analygous to being 75 years old and receiving word you have cancer but you’re not going to die. The bad news is that it will be very expensive and you will feel really bad. Also there is no guarantee that you won’t die from something else shortly. But, as my son-in-law reminded me, it is only a couple of months car payment.

Catching Up

It has been several days since I have posted and there are several things I want to share from our trip so far. We spent Friday night at my Aunt Imogene’s. The highlight of the evening was the AMAZING CORNDOG. Jerry’s dog, Lucy loves fresh corn. She will go into the garden and pull an ear, shuck it and eat the kernals. There appears to be no end to her appetite.

Saturday morning we had breakfast and headed to Destin Florida. Everyone made it safely and we are enjoying our stay. Saturday was Jerod’s birthday so we got to celebrate with him. Our van has a problem which is yet to be diagnosed. It could be fatal. I’ll hear tomorrow. The beach is spectacularly beautiful. Sunday morning we had a charter fishing trip planned. We got up at 5:00am and headed out at 6:00am but the seas were so rough that we came back in and re-scheduled for Friday am. I was disappointed because Carter and Lori will be leaving Tuesday and they were planning on fishing. Most of our days have been at the beach. The kids are doing really well and having a great time. This is prime vacation time here so there are lots of people and traffic. Here are some pictures:
